Picard signs MoU with Apon Wellbeing

Picard Bangladesh Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Apon Wellbeing Ltd. in Savar on Tuesday to ensure better health and wellbeing of workforce of Picard. Picard Bangladesh Ltd., a member of the Leathergoods And Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Apon Wellbeing Ltd. in Savar on Tuesday to ensure better health and wellbeing of workforce of Picard Bangladesh as a part of LFMEAB's 'Beyond Compliance Initiative', says a press release.
Under the partnership agreement, Apon will operate a Fair Price Shop on the Picard premises exclusively for the staff and workers of Picard. Apon will sell packaged and non-packaged household necessities at up to 10 per cent discounted rate with credit facilities, which will increase disposable income of the workers.
Speaking on the occasion, Md. Saiful Islam, Managing Director of Picard Bangladesh Ltd. and President of LFMEAB, said, "We must uphold every aspect of workers' rights -- including decent work, women reproductive health, and fair price shopping. To this end, we are committed to improving the lives of our workforce."
He also hoped the due to this noble initiative, workers of Picard Bangladesh will be able to buy quality products at a price less than that of the market.
