Prime Minister's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy has given a reminder to the authority concerned to complete the work on Hi-Tech Park within the tenure of the present government.

The government in its last tenure could not progress the work of the park due mainly to legal complexities, he mentioned.

Meanwhile, land problem of the Hi-Tech Park has been solved by increasing its area to 332 acres from the earlier 232 acres to accommodate more local and foreign IT firms.

During his visit to the park on Wednesday, Mr Joy who is also information technology expert said, "The project is so lucrative for the investors. So fund is no problem, even it will not put pressure on the government exchequer."

The project will be developed under public private partnership (PPP), he mentioned.

After visiting the park, the Prime minister's son participated in a view exchange meeting with the ministers concerned and government officials.

In the meeting, Railway Ministry has given a presentation to build a railway station along with dedicated rail service nearby the project area for smooth transportation of the employees of the park. The Hi Tech Park is expecting to generate around 60 thousand employments.

Mr Joy directed the authority concerned to build an international standard training institution in the park to produce high profile IT professionals.

Multinational companies are eying to set up their Research and Development (R&D) centres in the country. So Hi Tech Park will be lucrative for them, he thinks.

The Hi Tech Park authority meanwhile, invited tenders from private organisations for building infrastructure of the park. Already some basic development works like road construction were done by the authority.

Railway Minister Mujibul Huq gave assurance of making a railway station in the area. State Minister for Information Communication and Technology division Junaid Ahmed Palak, among others, was present in the event. The ICT minister is giving due attention to make the project a success.

Hi Tech Park's work started in July, 1999 in Kaliakoir, Gazipur acquiring land from telecom ministry during the first term of the Awami League Government.
