PM seeks more Chinese financial support

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina sought Wednesday more financial assistance from China to build Bangladesh as a hunger and poverty-free country.
"We want more financial support from China to turn Bangladesh into a hunger and poverty-free country," she said.
The PM came up with the request when Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jun paid a farewell call on her at her office, reports BSS.
After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed journalists.
He said the PM expressed her gratitude to the Chinese government for its continued assistance in Bangladesh's socio-economic advancement, especially in the infrastructure sector.
Sheikh Hasina expressed her hope that the bilateral relations between Dhaka and Beijing would be further strengthened.
UNB adds: The Chinese envoy highly appreciated Bangladesh's success in the socio-economic field.
He said Chinese investment in Bangladesh would be increased further in the days to come.
Li Jun said Bangladesh-China bilateral ties have been consolidated further during Sheikh Hasina's rule. "During the period, the highest Chinese investment was made in Bangladesh," he said.
He informed the PM that the Chinese government would soon publish the activities of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during his visits to China in 1952 and 1957 in Chinese language.
"We would also translate the book 'Asamapata Atmajiboni' (Unfinished Memoirs) of Bangabandhu into Chinese language," he added.
