Port of Koper reps meet with CPA

CHATTOGRAM, June 22: Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) and officials of Port of Koper in Slovenia held a meeting on Tuesday at the CPA Board room in Chattogram to start a new sea route with Chattogram to Slovenia.

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) invited the representatives of Port of Koper in Slovenia to Bangladesh for discussing the new sea route with the CPA.

Mitja Dujc, commercial director, Port of Koper, Slovenia, Miha Groznik, honorary consul of Bangladesh in Slovenia, Borut Semrl, manager (Sales) Port of Koper Slovenia, representative of Consulate of Slovenia in Dhaka Sadequl Kabir and M Zahid Ahmed were present, among others.

On behalf of CPA, Chairman of CPA Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, Member of CPA Jafar Alam, Director (Traffic) Enamul Karim, Captain Faridul Alam, First Vice President of BGMEA Syed Nazrul Islam, Vice President Rakibul Alam Chowdhury and Director M Ahasanul Haque were present at the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, CPA Chief Rear Admiral M Shahjahan said, "The quality and capacity of Chittagong sea port is increasing day by day like other modern ports of the world. Following the development of Chittagong port, we are trying to increase our sea routes now."

"CPA will give priority for berthing, allocation of cranes and other facilities for the ships of Chattogram Europe sea route. The ships can carry containers on the Chattogram Europe sea route. If anybody wants to start the sea-line from Chattogram to the Europe sea route, CPA will give all-out support in this regard," he added.

Mitja Dujc, commercial director, Port of Koper expressed his interest to open a new sea route with Bangladesh and Slovenia.
