Bangladesh Poultry Industries Coordination Committee (BPICC), an apex body of six poultry related associations, has said every possible initiative has been taken to meet the demand for poultry chicken and egg during Eid.
While addressing before Iftar, convener of BPICC Moshiur Rahman said demand for poultry chicken and egg remains comparatively high during the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. The housewives prepare different types of dishes, curries, sweets and recipes to entertain the family members as well as guests during Eid.  "We have observed that the demand for egg and chicken has been increasing every year on the occasion of Eid. Monitoring has been strengthened to ensure unhindered supply of safe poultry items," he said.
Moshiur said consumers would get an attractive price this year since egg and chicken are being sold at a cheaper price compared to the production cost. Besides egg and chicken, consumers can also buy mini nugget, Tanduri chicken nugget, sausage, fried chicken, drumstick, chicken wings, portion chicken, dressed broiler, burger and patties including food supplement-enriched items like Omega3 eggs.
Speaking on the occasion State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayan Chandra Chanda said the poultry industry had been progressing despite numerous obstacles and meeting the demand for animal protein.  The poultry leaders attending the Iftar said the consumption of egg was still much lower in Bangladesh. In the developed world per capita consumption of egg is more than 200 pieces, but in our country it is only 35-40.
To build a healthy nation and meritorious future generation, the poultry leaders have emphasised increasing the consumption of egg and chicken. They have also stressed creating awareness among the general consumers, from urban to rural areas, about nutrition and health.
