Bangladeshi agro-processor PRAN has started mango collection and pulping activities like previous years to manufacture mango drink, juice, mango bar and other food items, according to a statement.
This year, PRAN has started collecting and pulping mangoes in its plants of PRAN Agro Limited factory in Natore and Barind (Varendra) Industrial Park in Rajshahi from Thursday.
PRAN sets a target to procure 65,000 metric tonnes of mangoes for the season.
Sarowar Hossain, general manager of Barind Industrial Park, said, "Rajshahi, Natore, Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Meherpur and Satkhira are famous for mangoes and we are collecting mangoes from these regions. In the first phase, we are purchasing 'Guti' mangoes from Thursday (May 26) and it will continue until the middle of July. After this, we will collect 'Ashwani' varieties until the supply of mangoes."
Kamruzzaman Kamal, marketing director of PRAN-RFL Group, said, "We collected more than 40 thousand metric tonnes of mangoes last year. We give utmost importance to the raw materials so that customers can drink fresh mango juice. For this reason, we have set up factories in Natore and Rajshahi which are famous for mango production."
He also said, "PRAN collects a large amount of mangoes from the farmers at mango season every year and manufactures fruit drink and juice from the pulp. PRAN frooto is now the best mango fruit drinks brand and able to receive trust from the customers. We are exporting the product to 145 countries around the globe regularly."
