Projects worth Tk 3.14b okayed

The cabinet committee on public purchase approved Thursday three projects worth Tk 3.14 billion including construction of four-lane flyover on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Bhulta in Rupganj of Narayanganj at a cost of over Tk 2.40 billion. The Road Transport and Highways Department will implement the flyover project.  The approval was given at a meeting held at the cabinet division of the Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the chair. Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque were, among others, present. Additional Secretary of the cabinet division Md Mostafizur Rahman briefed journalists after the meeting. The two other projects approved by the cabinet committee are purchase of medicines under the packages G-1456, G-1459 and G-1560 at a cost of over Tk 267 million and import of 10,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid for DAP Fertiliser Company Ltd at a cost of over Tk 373 million.  Mr Rahman said the Ministry of Health and Family Planning and the Ministry of Industries will implement the two projects respectively.
