The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Tuesday approved four procurement proposals including import of wheat from Ukraine.
"A total of 0.25 million tonnes of wheat will be imported from Ukraine at government-to-government level," Mostafizur Rahman, Joint Secretary of the Cabinet Division, told the reporters after the meeting at Cabinet Division, reports BSS.
Replying to a query, the joint secretary said: "The import of wheat will cost Tk 5.88 billion, with each tonne at US$297.50."
Apart from the wheat import, the CCGP gave nod to the proposal to import 30,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid for DAPFCL. Agro Industrial Input, Dhaka will supply the phosphoric acid at a cost of Tk 1.04 billion.
Another proposal for Construction of four Potato Seeds Cold Storages with the total capacity of 2,000 tonnes for Potato Seed Division of Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation to strengthen quality seed supply was approved at the meeting.
ACI Motors Limited and Eunor Hitech Seed Company Joint Venture will construct the cold storages involving Tk 1.02 billion.
The Committee also approved the proposal for constructing the remaining parts of the Purbachal connective road to Balu Bridge from Kanchan Bridge of River Shitalakhya under Purbachal New Project.
ARKRRPL Joint Venture will construct the road with Tk 1.26 billion.
Besides, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on the day approved two proposals including the Construction of Block-2 and Block-5 of Hi-Tech Park under Public Private Partnership, said Mr Rahman.
