Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said in the city Monday that Japanese financial assistance will be beneficial in the constructions of the Eastern Bypass road and a tunnel under the river Jamuna.
The Minister for Road Transport and Bridges made the observation while attending a discussion with Japan-Bangladesh Parliamentary Friendship League (JBPFL) at Japanese capital Tokyo on Monday, reports BSS.
The discussion was held with the representative team led by former Minister for Land, Transport, Infrastructure and Tourism Takeshi Maeda also the vice-president of Japan-Bangladesh Friendship League, at its office in Tokyo.
The visiting Bangladeshi minister thanked the Japanese government for providing financial assistance for building second Katchpur, Meghna Gomoti bridges including the Metro-Rail.
The minister hoped that the Japan government will continue the assistance in future.
The meeting was attended, among others, by the members of the delegation team in Japan including Bangladeshi Envoy to Japan Masud Bin Momen and Economic Minister of Bangladesh Embassy in Japan Dr Jibon Krishna Majumder.
