RAJSHAHI, May 10 (BSS): All the 376 branches of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) will begin online operation by this year-end.

RAKUB Managing Director Mofazzal Hossain revealed this while addressing an orientation programme on 'Banking Software' in the city Saturday as the chief guest.

All 18 zonal managers, branch managers of 164 selected branches and divisional audit officers of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions were present at the orientation programme.

Mofazzal Hossain said there is no alternative to computerisation in the competitive banking sector. He asked the zonal managers to bring the branch level computerisation activities under round-the-clock monitoring.

"We will be able to improve consumer services through launching different electronic banking activities like online banking and mobile banking," he asserted.

He expects that the electronic banking will facilitate and improve services for the clients.

He said the efforts will supplement the government's endeavour to build digital Bangladesh, reaching public services at the doorsteps of common people.

RAKUB, headquartered in Rajshahi, has been operating its banking activities as the largest development partner in all 16 northwest districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions targeting the agricultural sector and all its sub-sectors.

With Deputy General Manager Golam Mostofa in the chair, Deputy Managing Director Dr Nazmul Bari, General Manager (Rajshahi division) Abdul Khaleque Khan and General Manager (Rangpur division) Habibur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
