Rangpur people urged to pay income taxes spontaneously

RANGPUR, Sept 11 (BSS): People from all walks of life in Rangpur region have been urged to come forward in paying income taxes spontaneous to strengthen national economy.

Speakers at a views-sharing meeting organised by the Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) made the appeal here on Wednesday.

The RCCI organised the meeting with income tax officials on the 'Income Tax Fair-2014' to be organised here by Rangpur Zonal Tax Commissioner's Office from September 16 to 22.

With RCCI President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu in the chair, Assistant Tax Commissioners of Rangpur Zonal Tax Commissioner's Office Md Shamsul Haque and Nur-E-Alam attended the meeting as the invited guests.

The speakers said there are many people eligible now for paying income taxes under the present improved socioeconomic scenario and the nation might need no foreign assistance and loan in near future for its developments if everybody properly pays income tax.

They observed the national economy would be strengthened removing dependence on foreign loans for conducting national developments if all bigger, medium and small-scale taxpayers would pay their respective tax spontaneously.

The senior income tax officials said the government has eased tax payment process with modernisation of tax fixation and payment methods to make it more realistic with change in mindsets of the officials concerned for enhancing revenue collection.

Appreciating tax payment trend of the people of Rangpur region, they called upon the business community leaders and people from all walks of life for extending cooperation in making the upcoming income tax fair successful.

The income tax officials will assist tax payers in submitting income tax returns, registration and re-registration of E-Tax Identification Number (TIN) and other facilities at the fair to be arranged at Rangpur Zila Parishad Community Centre.
