S Alam Group's modern refineries creating jobs for 6,000

S. Alam Group's several new refineries equipped with latest technologies will start full-fledged operation this year, says the conglomerate in a statement.

Eight refineries of the Group involving an investment of approximately $1,200 million or Tk 131.82 billion (13,182 crore) made by the company will create over 6,000 jobs.

S. Alam Group, one of the country's leading industrial conglomerates, is playing a key role in stabilising the market by importing various daily necessities including sugar, wheat, chickpea, onion, oil etc. The conglomerate is investing in establishing the state-of-the-art refineries to provide quality products to the consumers.

Of the eight refineries, six are for edible oil and two for sugar. Most of these industrial plants are in Chattogram. The state-of-the-art oil refineries are capable of refining approximately 4,800 tonnes of edible oil while the sugar refineries have the capacity to refine 5,100 tonnes of sugar.

The company has generated one thousand and nine hundred jobs in the oil industry, accompanied by a net investment exceeding USD 500 million or Tk 54.92 billion (5,492 crore). Simultaneously, four thousand and one hundred jobs have been created in the sugar industry, with a net investment surpassing USD 700 million or Tk 76.89 billion (7,689 crore). Furthermore, there is an under-construction mega sugar refinery scheduled for completion by 2026.

S. Alam Group said in a statement, "S. Alam Group imports the lion's share of daily necessities in this country. Besides, we have several state-of-the-art oil and sugar refineries.
