Sadharan Bima earns Tk 2.18b net profit

Sadharan Bima Corporation (SBC), the lone state-owned non-life insurer, earned a net profit of Tk 2.18 billion for the year 2013. It is Tk 380 million higher than that of the previous year.
Md Rezaul Karim, managing director of SBC, came up with the disclosure at its board of directors meeting in the city recently, said a statement.
Chairman of the board of directors of SBC Md Shamsul Alam presided over the meeting.
The meeting approved annual accounts of the corporation for the year 2013.
The meeting was told that in 2013, premium income of the corporation was Tk 4.79 billion.
In 2013, SBC paid Tk 1.65 billion against various claims.
Besides, the corporation paid Tk 558 million as income tax and Tk 100 million as profit to the government exchequer during the same period.
Director and other senior officials of the corporation were present at the meeting, the statement added.
