Saif Powertec donates equipment for Ctg Port hospital

CHATTOGRAM, June 16: The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) has prepared the Chittagong Port Hospital as specialised hospital for coronavirus patients. The hospital will start its health service from Thursday.

Meanwhile, Saif Powertec Limited has donated four oxygen concentrator machines, four ventilator machines and 100 oxygen cylinders for the Chittagong port hospital on Sunday. The machineries were installed at the hospital today.

Managing Director of Saif Powertec Limited Tarafdar Ruhul Amin handed over the equipment for the hospital to CPA Chairman Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad. CPA member (Admn) Mohammed Jafar Alam, CPA member (Harbour and marine) Commodore M Shafiul Bari, Director (Admn) Md Momunur Rashid, official of Saif Powertec Limited Captain Tanvir Ahamed, Rejaul Karim and Saiful Alam were present on the occasion.

CPA has appointed 13 new medical officers for the treatment of coronavirus affected patients who will be admitted to the hospital on Thursday. The authority has installed the system for hi-flow oxygen supply at the hospital.

Officials of CPA said, "There are isolation zone, treatment units, ICU facilities and 24-hour oxygen supply facility.

Earlier, CPA started isolation centre at the Port Recreation Club last month while they turned the port hospital as specialised one for their coronavirus affected workers and staffs now.

The organization is collecting samples of their officials and staff from May 27 at their own initiative for coronavirus test. CPA is collecting samples from 14 persons a day for test, CPA sources said.
