Sanjoy Kumar Bhowmik took over as Chairman (Grade 1) of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) on Thursday, says a press release.
He started off his career as a member of the 13th BCS (administration) cadre in 1994. He has held various important positions such as Assistant Commissioner (Magistrate), Assistant Commissioner (Land), Senior Assistant Commissioner and Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
Hailing from Brahmanbaria district, Mr Bhowmik completed his B.Sc. (Ag) from Bangladesh Agricultural University, and did his post graduate degree in Agroforestry and Environment from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University.
He joined the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change as a joint secretary on November 8, 2018. Later, he was promoted to the post of Additional Secretary.
He also discharged his duties as the director of the Bangladesh National Herbarium.
