State Bank of India (SBI), India's largest commercial bank, has formally introduced SBI Travel Card in Bangladesh recently, says a press release.
Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pankaj Saran, deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank Naznin Sultana and SBI's chief general manager Mrutyunjay Mahapatra were present in the launching ceremony.
The travel card will be available at SBI's branches in Dilkusha, Gulshan, Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Khulna.
The travel card is a pre-paid foreign currency card and can be used to withdraw cash at all Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) of SBI as well as ATMs accepting Visa cards. It can also be used in Point of Sales (POS) for settlement of funds for purchase. It is also usable like international debit or credit card for making online transactions of all legal e-commerce sites.
The SBI is operating its banking business in Bangladesh since 1975. The bank has 22,000 branches across India and 190 international offices. With 52,000 ATMs, the bank has the largest ATM network in the world.
