Standard Chartered Bangladesh (SCB) on Saturday launched a new product, 'Swadeshi Banking', for providing specialised financial services to the non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) across the globe.

With the new product, a client will avail wide range of services like money transfer from abroad, invest in Bangladesh, digital access to the account and priority banking services.

The multinational bank's country chief executive officer (CEO) Naser Ezaz Bijoy along with other senior executives introduced the banking solution at a press conference at a city hotel.

Head of the bank's retail banking Sabbir Ahmed and head of corporate affairs Bitopi Das Chowdhury were also present.

Mr. Bijoy said Bangladeshi operation of the Standard Chartered (StanChart) has so far introduced many modern banking solutions like ATM, credit card, internet banking and 24-hour customer support for its clients in Bangladesh.

"StanChart has been the pioneer in introducing many new banking solutions to meet the people's need," he said.

In tune with this, the bank is announcing the new product for the NRBs, who have been making important contribution to stellar growth of the country's economy.

Many white-collar professionals cannot send their money to Bangladesh despite their willingness, as there is no suitable platform for them, said Mr. Bijoy.

"Many NRBs look for three key issues namely convenience, scope to invest in home country and digital access to their bank

account," he said, adding that the Swadeshi Banking will allow the NRBs to enjoy all the facilities.

Mr. Sabbir Ahmed said StanChart is the only international bank operating in Bangladesh that offers all sorts of retail banking products.

This strong position allows the SCB to offer a one-stop suit of banking solution for the NRBs in case of fund transfer, make investment and digitally take control over the account from anywhere.

According to the bank's executives, the clients can purchase a home in Bangladesh with the bank's scheme with attractive interest rates and invest in NRB bonds from offshore.

The new scheme will also allow a client to pay tuition fees and living expenses through the bank's support called Student File when relocating abroad for education purposes.

A Swadeshi Banking customer will also get global recognition of their priority status and can access Standard Chartered Priority Centers worldwide.

Family members of the priority clients are also recognised and can avail a whole range of priority benefits and challenges.
