Sea Asia maritime confce held in Singapore

CHITTAGONG, Apr 29: Asia's premier maritime and offshore conference Sea Asia 2015 was held from April 20 to 23 in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, hosted by Sea-trade and Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF), a statement said.

Lui Tuck Yew, minister for transport and second minister for defence, presided over the conference as the chief guest.  Mr Yew observed that Asia is first becoming the device of global growth while maritime industry needs to be prepared. Chairman of the Shippers' Council of Bangladesh (SCB) Md Rezaul Karim attended the conference.

The session highlighted the need for shipping companies to drive greater operational efficiencies to capture opportunities by increasing capacity building to address challenges of today's environment. The Sea Asia Global Forum panelists commented that the industry is facing challenges which are optimistic for the future. Participants from 70 countries attended the Sea Asia conference.

In Singapore, Md Rezaul Karim along with SCB vice chairman Arzu Rahman Bhuiya also met Singapore National Shippers' Council chairman John Y Lu and discussed bilateral issues with him.     pankajdastider@gmail.com
