CHITTAGONG, Sept 17: A seminar on "Developing new product idea" was held recently at Chittagong Independent University campus in the port city. The students of Independent Business School (IBS) presented their new product ideas.
Sidratul Muntaha and her team developed the idea for 'Green Mart' - a new organic superstore for Chittagong, Helal Uddin and his team developed the idea of a new bridal wear shop named 'Expression', Sanjida Aman and her team developed the idea of a new office furniture shop with special emphasis on online, Iqbal Mahmud and his team developed the idea of a new fish and chips store under the name 'Criticious', Sheikh Ali Haider and his team developed the idea for a handicraft store for upscale consumers, and Auzu Sherrin Oishi's team developed the idea for a new cheese and cake shop in Chittagong.
All the groups had to make presentations on developing product idea, identifying a location for the store, developing an interior for the store and identifying various items within the product and pricing of the products. Apart from these, each group had to develop a unique name and logo for the brand. Moreover, the groups had to explain the target market for the brand and show the positioning strategy.
Sheikh Ali Haider's team received the best idea award. The whole event was under supervision of Dr Mahmud Hassan, associate professor of the university.
