A seminar titled "SME Development: Role of an Effective SME Association" will be held at IDEB Bhaban in the city tomorrow (Saturday).
Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Atiur Rahman will inaugurate the seminar as the chief guest.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Indian Deputy High Commissioner Sandeep Chakrabarty, and BB deputy governor Md Abul Quasem will attend the programme as the special guests.
The seminar is being organised under an initiative of different organizations to flourish the country's SME sector.
The organizations are - BB, Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM), Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB), Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BWCCI), and Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogra.
IDEB President AKMA Hamid unveiled these at a press conference on Thursday. BIBM SME faculty consultant Sukamal Sinha Chowdhury, BB deputy general manager Md Abul Bashar, and IDLC Finance head of SME Zahid Ibne Hai were also present at the press conference.
Meanwhile, a ten-member team of IamSMEofIndia, led by its chairman Rajiv Chawla, is scheduled to arrive in the capital today (Friday) to exchange views with different local SME organisations. He will also present a keynote paper at the seminar.
Integrated Association of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of India, popularly known as IamSMEofIndia, provides various services to the SME entrepreneurs, including credit facilitation at low interest rate, product marketing, buying raw material, product export, and deal signing with different companies like rating agencies, airlines and insurance companies.
