Bangladesh Forum Qatar (BFQ) celebrated its 1st founding anniversary by awarding business organisations that are contributing to the development of Qatar-Bangladesh bilateral economic relationship.
The event titled "Partners of Bangladesh" took place recently at a hotel in Doha, Qatar attended by distinguished businessmen and professionals, said a statement.
Hosted by BFQ members Professor Dr. Kazi of Qatar University and Engr. Tasmia Priyanka of Qatar Gas, Bangladesh Ambassador in Doha Ashud Ahmed graced the occasion as chief guest.
A total of seven renowned organisations and entrepreneurs were honoured in three different categories (i.e. contribution to trade and economic development of Bangladesh, employing substantial number of Bangladeshi workforce and successful Bangladeshi entrepreneur in Qatar).
The recipients of the awards were Al Jaber Group, QDVC, QD-SBG Construction, Muntajat, Power Holding, Arabian Exchange Companies and Jalal Ahmed, CEO of Golden Marble Company.
During the event, BFQ founding member Shahed Ahmed (prominent corporate banker in Qatar) introduced Bangladesh and briefly outlined the opportunities available in Bangladesh for foreign direct investment.
BFQ founding member Israt Ara Younus, Managing Director of Richmond Consultants & Services WLL, announced and presented about an upcoming event of "Made in Bangladesh", first Bangladeshi trade and investment exhibition to be held in Doha in December 2019, jointly organised by BFQ and Bangladesh Embassy.
A large number of renowned Bangladeshi companies and entrepreneurs are expected to take part in the exhibition with opportunities to showcase their products and services which will help boost the bilateral trade between the two countries, said the statement.
In his speech, Mr. Ashud Ahmed hailed the initiatives of BFQ and said the events and activities are helping to improve image of Bangladesh in Qatar and promoting the relationship between the two countries at different levels.
On the sideline of the event, BFQ President Iftekhar Ahmad, Ali Bin Ali Group CFO, said: "There couldn't be a better moment to recognise the business organisations for their contribution to Bangladesh economy. We hope to continue the trend every year and hope that our future endeavours will also improve the image of Bangladesh in Qatar."
BFQ is a Qatar Financial Centre registered business forum formed by Bangladeshi professionals and business people of diversified background working in Qatar.
