Shimanto Bank rolls out three products

Shimanto Bank launched three new products on Thursday to cater to the Covid-induced new normal needs.

These new products are SMBL Nari Shakti, SMBL Projukti Rhin and SMBL Shoinik Bhabishwat.

The bank's management announced the products at a press conference at its Corporate Head Office in the city.

Managing Director and CEO of the bank Muklesur Rahman said the new products are targeted at women, members of the border force and implementation of a 'digital Bangladesh'.

He said the bank has almost no default loans, and wants to continue to achieve the growth at this pace compliantly.

Mr Rahman said Shimanto Bank has been introducing modern technology-based banking services to the marginalised areas of the country and contributing to the socio-economic development of rural people.

Shimanto Bank started its journey on September 1, 2016 with the slogan "Shimahin Astha" under the ownership of Border Guard Welfare Trust. Shimanto Bank is working to accelerate the country's economic growth and bring technology-based banking services to the people.

In the last four years, the bank has set up 18 new branches, of which four are in Dhaka division, six in Chittagong division, two in Mymensing division, three in Khulna division, one in Rangpur division and two in Sylhet division.

According to a press handout, SMBL Nari Shakti is for the "women entrepreneur" of rural areas who are involved in businesses like poultry farming, hatchery, fisheries, cattle farming, cultivation of crops and vegetable, handicrafts, boutiques, readymade garments shop, tailoring and beauty parlours.

The purpose of the loan is to make rural women self-dependent.

Any rural woman, aged between 22 and 50, who are operating above-listed small businesses for minimum three months are eligible to get the loan on easy terms. The amount of loan ranges between Tk 10,000 and Tk 100,000.

The customers will also get a special Debit Card for ATM and POS transactions.

"SMBL Projukti Rhin" is an exclusive loan for those who want to make life easier in online education. Salaried persons, businessman/women and professionals, aged between 22 and 60, are eligible to get the loan to buy laptops or electronic gadgets to pursue online education.

SMBL Shoinik Bhabishwat is a fixed deposit product for all the serving soldiers of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
