CHATTOGRAM, Dec 21: A ship carrying goods directly from Pakistan has arrived in Bangladesh waters for the second time.
The Panama-flagged carrier, Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan, arrived in Chittagong Port waters on Friday and is scheduled to berth at the port's jetty on Sunday.
The vessel, which travelled from Dubai via Karachi Port, similar to its first trip, is carrying materials, including sugar, potatoes from Pakistan.
While the practice of shipping goods from Pakistan via Dubai is not new, this time the Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan has made a direct journey from Karachi to Chittagong.
The ship's second trip has seen a significant increase in cargo, with more than double the number of containers compared to its first visit. This time, the vessel is carrying a total of 825 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) containers. Of these, 126 TEUs were shipped from Dubai, while 699 TEUs were loaded in Karachi.
The cargo includes a diverse range of products, such as sugar, soda ash, denim fabric, yarn, dolomite lumps, natural dolomite, dry fish, UPS, potatoes, and radiator cores, sources said. It is expected that two days will be required to complete the unloading process.
The ship's first visit to Chittagong Port occurred on November 11, 2023, following its departure from Dubai and Karachi.
The Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan is operated by Dubai-based Feeder Lines DMCC, which launched the vessel on a route connecting Dubai, Karachi, Chittagong, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Dubai. Regency Lines Limited is the local agent for the ship in Bangladesh.
