The Board of Directors of Social Islami Bank Limited in its 314th meeting has unanimously extended the tenure of incumbency of the incumbent Chairman Major (Retd.) Dr. Md. Rezaul Haque in recognition of his 'dynamic and pragmatic leadership towards visible growth of the Bank', said a statement.
Major (Retd) Dr. Md. Rezaul Haque, a veteran and valiant Freedom Fighter of Bangladesh Liberation War had actively participated in the war as Medical Officer under sector head quarters number-1 at Harina Army Camp at Subroom, India.
He received his M.B.B.S degree from Chittagong Medical College under Dhaka University. After returning from liberation war he had served different units of Bangladesh Army as Army Medical Officer till 1978. He also participated in Arab-Israel War at the Golan Heights of Syria in 1973 as a captain of Bangladesh Army. On deputation from the Army, Mr. Reza also worked at Family Planning Directorate under Ministry of Health of Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. In 1978 he had left for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and served Ministry of Health of KSA for 22 years. While he was the Director of Chest Disease Hospital, Jeddah, he voluntarily retired from the service in 2002 and engaged himself in various social development and employment generating activities at home. Mr. Reza is one of the visionary founders of the Bank. He is the 2nd Founding Sponsor Director of SIBL. He is also Sponsor Director of United Hospital Limited and Director of SIBL Securities Ltd.
He is also the Chairman of Little House (Pvt) Limited, Active Builders Limited, Probashi Forum Co-operative Limited and SIBL Investment Limited. He is a well known philanthropist and social worker. He has established Younus Foundation in the name of his late father at his home town Begumgonj, Noakhali and has undertaken various social activities there too. Mr. Haque was elected Chairman of SIBL during 2006-2007. Major Dr. Md. Rezaul Haque (Retd) was listed as member of International Who's Who of professionals under North Caroline of America in 1999 in recognition of his academic and civic achievements of life.
