Sonagazi Solar Plant bolsters national grid

The 75-megawatt Sonagazi Solar Power Plant in Feni is significantly strengthening Bangladesh's national grid while accelerating economic activities, particularly in and around the National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ), reports BSS.
Constructed by the Electricity Generation Bangladesh PLC with financial support from the World Bank and the Bangladesh government, the plant has emerged as a reliable source of clean energy since it began supplying electricity to the grid in April 2024.
Located in Sonagazi Upazila Purba Borodhali and Charchandia area, the solar facility has a generation capacity of 75 MW (AC) and 96.34 MW (DC).
Electricity generated from the plant is transmitted through a 230 kV line to the Mirsarai grid substation, operated by the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh, ensuring stable power supply to key industrial zones.
