Specific policy for cottage ind sought

Chairman of India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdul Matlub Ahmad on Thursday said country's all small and cottage industries have to be under the umbrella of National Association of Small and Cottage Industries Bangladesh (NASCIB). He also urged specific policy for the development of small and cottage industries. "Without specific policy support from the government for small and cottage industries, it will not be able to achieve target of 2021 medium income country goal," he said while speaking at annual general meeting (AGM) of NASCIB. The 29th AGM of the NASCIB was held in the city hotel where President of the Central Executive Committee of NASCIB Mirza Nurul Ghani Shovon presided. Speaking as the chief guest, Abdul Matlub Ahmad said he is ready to provide all-out support to increase trade among the members of NASCIB and other neighbouring countries specially Indian. Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) vice-President Helal Uddin said Bangladesh should learn the lesson from the neighbouring countries as to how they developed their economies through the help of small and cottage industries. Mirza Nurul Ghani Shovon expressed his commitment to organising NASCIB activities in all the 64 districts. He also expressed his desire to strengthen the capacity of the women entrepreneurs all over the country. — FE Report
