RANGPUR, June 18 (BSS): State minister for local government, rural development and cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga MP Tuesday stressed for spreading information and communication technology (ICT) among the young generations for building a prosperous Sonar Bangla.
Digitisation has already become successful and an irreversible process, influencing every sphere of civic and national life. It is pushing Bangladesh towards emerging as a middle-income nation through materialising the Vision 2021 by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the three-day divisional 'E-Business Fair', organised by the divisional commissioner's office under the ICT Division's initiative at Zila Parishad Community Centre Auditorium here as the chief guest.
Divisional commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht presided over the ceremony, participated by the divisional and district-level officials, including deputy commissioners, heads of different government departments and institutions, bankers, businesspersons, teachers and students.
Additional divisional commissioner (general) Narayan Chandra Barma delivered the welcome speech narrating goals and objectives of the fair.
A total of 28 stalls have been set up by the district administrations, different banks, chambers, organisations and institutions, displaying digitised ICT for e-business.
ICT Division joint secretary Shyama Prasad Byapari and deputy commissioner of Rangpur Farid Ahammad addressed the programme as the special guests.
Divisional deputy director for primary education Mohiuddin Ahmed Talukder and senior reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Mamun Islam also spoke, narrating the success achieved through digitisation using ICT in the country during the past five years.
The chief guest said the fair would be successful by bridging the people including businesspersons, entrepreneurs and producers with ICT-based digitised facilities for making successful business.
Later, the state minister along with the high officials visited different stalls in the fair.
In his speech, Shyama Prasad Byapari elaborated the Vision 2021 and the tremendous success that the government has already achieved by taking all services to the doorsteps of people.
He specially discussed the scopes for making business using ICT at local, national and international levels to accelerate the pace of development in building the Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
