A VAT intelligence team on Monday filed cases against three more outlets of SR Group for concealing information on sales worth Tk 322.5 million.
The team has detected VAT evasion worth Tk 71.3 million through concealment of sales information, said a statement issued by VAT Audit, Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
Earlier, the VAT wing had found that two restaurants Food Village and Food Village Plus, owned by SR Group, concealed information on sales worth Tk 2.0 billion and evaded VAT worth Tk 260 million.
According to the initial investigation, the VAT team has found evasion of VAT worth Tk 23.2 million by Sung Food Garden located at Bijoy Nagar.
They have found that the restaurant showed sales worth Tk 63.4 million against Tk 218 million. The VAT wing has also imposed Tk 10 million as 2.0 per cent monthly interest for nonpayment of VAT in due time.
The two outlets of Garlic and Ginger, owned by SR Group, are located in Dhanmondi and Jamuna Future Park.
One of the outlets has showed sales worth Tk 34.6 million against Tk 150 million. The VAT team has detectedTk18.3 million as evaded VAT and imposed Tk 9.0 million as 2.0 per cent monthly interest.
Another outlet has showed sales information worth Tk 23.3 million against Tk 75.2 million. The VAT intelligence team detected evasion of VAT worth Tk 7.9 million and imposed Tk2.5 million as 2.0 per cent interest.
The VAT intelligence wing will send the cases to the Dhaka north and south VAT commissionerates for disposal.
Despite frequent attempts, this correspondent could not reach the persons concerned of SR Group for comment in this regard.
However, Manager of Sung Food Garden Ferdous Khan said he is not aware of such VAT evasion allegation.
