SREDA, GACCS ink MoU to ensure use of smokeless stoves

The Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) inked Sunday last a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Global Alliance for Clean Cook Stoves (GACCS) to ensure increase in the use of smokeless stoves across the country.
Under the MoU the GACCS would set a standardisation of cooking stoves, develop testing facility of clean cooking stoves at Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) and establish a household energy platform.
The energy efficiency of existing and future cooking stoves and supply of developed ones would be ensured under the MoU. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR) Nasrul Hamid was the chief guest at the MoU signing ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion he stressed the need for involving public representatives with the initiative. He said the government has planned to ensure smokeless kitchen by 2030.
SREDA Chairman Tapos Kumar Roy presided over the function attended by top officials of GACCS and SREDA.
