Step to boost Boro output taken

FARIDPUR, Jan 21 (BSS): A comprehensive programme has been taken to expand boro cultivation in the country aiming to boost rice production in the current season.
The district office of Department Agriculture Extension (DAE) took the programme to provide all necessary supports including agri-inputs to farmers to increase Boro production in the district, official sources said.
The sources said transplantation of the Boro seedlings is nearing completion. Cultivation target of 28,228 hectares of land has been fixed. Of them, 20,025 hectares have already been achieved, they added.
According to the DAE sources, different varieties of Boro seedlings have been transplanted in the district which included BRRI 28, BRRI 29 and BRRI 50 as the major varieties.
