Strong competition for good liquoring varieties

The weekly tea market in Chittagong Wednesday opened with a positive note which improved gradually as the sale continued often advancing by upto Tk 20, according to a market report.

Blenders were very active along with more interest from the Loose tea buyers.

The feature of the sale was the strong competition for the good liquoring varieties. Dusts were again a good market.

CTC LEAF: 34,935 packages and 190 packages of Old Season teas on offer met with a very good demand at dearer rates.

BROKENS: Well made good liquoring Brokens met with a strong demand and were dearer by upto Tk 10. Smaller varieties were strongly competed for and advanced by upto Tk 15 and these could be quoted between Tk 195 and Tk 210. Other varieties were also dearer based-on quality.

FANNINGS: Well made good liquoring Fannings met with a very strong feature particularly as the sale progressed and often advanced by Tk 15 to Tk 20. These could be quoted between Tk 205 and Tk 215. Mediums were also dearer by Tk 10 to Tk 15. Plainest varieties were about firm.

CTC DUST: 6,841 packages of teas on offer met with a good demand. Selected few lines of good liquoring RDs and Ds met with a strong competition and were generally dearer by upto Tk 8.0 and sometimes more. Others sold around previous levels. CDs experienced an easier market with a few withdrawals. Both Blenders and Loose tea buyers lent good support.
