Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Md. Jashim Uddin urged the businesspeople on Monday to take the country forward in line with the spirit of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He came up with the call at a doa mahfil, held on the occasion of Bangabandhu's 47th martyrdom anniversary and National Mourning Day (August 15) at the FBCCI on the day.
"Bangabandhu gave us a sovereign country. Therefore, business should be conducted with commitment towards the country's development," Md. Jashim Uddin said.
"Business should be run with honesty in light of the spirit of the War of Liberation," he added.
Earlier, the FBCCI board, led by its president, paid tribute to Bangabandhu by placing floral wreath at his portrait in Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital.
FBCCI Senior Vice President Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu, vice presidents Md. Amin Helaly, Salahuddin Alamgir and Md. Habib Ullah Dawn, directors and general body members were present in the two events.
The FBCCI also distributed foods to three madrasas in the capital, marking the National Mourning Day.
