Take innovative projects on tourism: Shahjahan

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Shahjahan Kamal has said that he will seek more allocation to take innovative projects for further flourishing tourism sector which is an untapped potential for economy in Bangladesh.
"I have seen that budget allocation for tourism development is not sufficient. I will request planning minister to allocate more fund for tourism so that I can take new tourism projects with innovative ideas," the newly sworn-in minister said while exchanging views with a delegation of Aviation and Tourism Journalists' Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB) at the Secretariat in the capital on Tuesday, reports BSS.
Putting emphasis on airport management, the minister said he will take initiatives to make the country's all airports more tourists friendly.
Terming media as important stakeholder in promoting tourism, Shahjahan urged the journalists to make investigative reporting on civil aviation and tourism for further betterment of the sector.
"The media can play a vital role in building public opinion on responsible tourism as well as helping policy makers to take proper steps in development of aviation and tourism industries," he said.
ATJFB President Nadira Kiron led the delegation.
ATJFB General Secretary Tanzim Anwar was also in the delegation, among others.
