TCB appoints 2816 dealers, JS body told

The state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has appointed 2816 dealers across the country, of which 1345 dealers were selected on the recommendations by ministers, state ministers and lawmakers.

And of the 1345 dealers, 654 dealers went through a verification process and the remaining 691 were appointed directly.

This was disclosed at a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on commerce ministry in the city on Sunday.

The meeting was also told that the district commissioners have verified the information of 1471 dealers before their appointment.

Presided over by chairman of the committee Tajul Islam Chowdhury, the meeting asked the authorities concerned to conduct drives regularly to check food adulteration and the cheating in weight.

The committee also recommended that lawmakers should be involved in the process of participation in international trade fairs abroad.
