CHATTOGRAM, Jan 29: The three-day Chittagong IT Fair on Monday night with the call for creating information technology rich workforce to take the country towards further development.
The fair was organised jointly by the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Society of Chittagong IT Professionals (SCITP) on January 26-28 at the CCCI's World Trade Centre.
MA Latif MP attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. CCCI Presided Mahbubul Alam chaired the event.
CCCI Vice President Syed Jamal Ahmed and AK Khan Group's Executive Committee Chairman Salauddin Kasem Khan and SCITP President Abdulla Farid were also present at the programme and spoke.
MA Latif said Bangladesh will be benefitted immensely from the IT-skilled workforce if the youths of the country are guided properly and trained up well on technology as desired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Emphasising on expanding specialised and technical education, he said the major projects under construction, such as special economic zones, LNG terminal, deep sea port, Patenga, Laldia and Bay terminals will greatly contribute to the national economy if the youths acquire the knowledge of high technology being used to build the projects.
The country needs to build IT professionals up properly to compete with the professionals hired from abroad because a huge quantity of national resource is being drained out for hiring of foreign experts, he said.
The local IT professionals will lead the country towards more prosperity and progress, he added.
The participants of the fair were awarded certificates and crests for displaying local IT products and services to the viewers in an attractive manner.
