Titas severs illegal gas connections

The state-run Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd (TGTDCL) on Wednesday snapped illegal gas connections of an industry located at Keraniganj, the locality of former state minister Nasrul Hamid.
Titas officials found two separate piped natural gas connections-one legal and another illegal-to the industry, owned by Akbar Mollah, along Mirerbagbazar Road of Iquria at Keraniganj.
They severed both the connections, according to a senior TGTDCL official.
The industry was stealing 2,041 cubic metres of gas worth Tk 61,232 daily.
It was operating one boiler having the capacity of 1.5 tonnes and four dryers having 200 cubic feet capacity each with the illegally-connected natural gas.
