Prime Minister's Energy Advisor Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury has sought an allocation of Tk 0.5 million (5 lakh) in the upcoming budget for each district for repairing circuit houses and other establishments.
Recently, the energy advisor sent a letter to Fazle Kabir, secretary of the ministry of finance (MoF) for allocating the fund in the next fiscal's budget.
The decision was taken, when Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury visited Tangail to inaugurate a digital fair in April last.
"During the visit, the DC of Tangail informed me that it was not possible to properly maintain and repair the circuit house and other establishments due to the lack of necessary fund. For this, DCs often have to be in an embarrassing situation," the letter said.
It would be possible to maintain and repair circuit houses and other establishments, if the government allocated Tk 0.5 million for every deputy commissioner (DC), the letter mentioned.
A total of Tk 32 million would be needed for 64 districts in the next fiscal year's budget for that purpose.
