RAJSHAHI, Sept 9 (BSS):  The Income Tax zone in Rajshahi has realised  income taxes worth Tk 3.15 billion (Tk 315 crore) in last 2014-15 fiscal year, up by Tk 580 million than the previous 2013-14 fiscal.
Dabir Uddin, Commissioner of Taxes, revealed this while addressing a press conference held at his office seminar room here Wednesday ahead of the forthcoming National Income Tax Day 2015 on September 15 and weeklong Income Tax Fair-2015 scheduled to be held from September 16.
He said that the rate of income tax earning has been growing day by day in the wake of bringing simplicity in the tax realisation system together with building cordial relation between the tax officials and taxpayers.
He attributed that the number of taxpayers are being increased gradually with addition of new more uncourageous taxpayers, which is good sign for the nation.
He said the growth rate is significant for the area comprising the districts of Rajshahi, Naogaon, Natore, Chapainawabgonj and Pabna where there are no big industries or trade centers.
"We have set a target to realise taxes worth Tk 4.1 billion in the current 2015-16 fiscal and we are hopeful about attaining the target by end of the fiscal," said  Mr Dabir Uddin.
He, however, said: "For the sake of tax collection, there are no hesitations to file certificate case or fine against those even confiscate bank accounts of those identified as defaulters". Around 18,000 new more taxpayers will be identified in survey during the current fiscal.
To expand the tax network, various motivational campaigns like spot assessment, survey and rewards for the taxpayers have been introduced.
Every working day, large numbers of taxpayers are coming to the help desk opened on the Commissionerate's office premises directly to know how they will pay taxes.
