Tk 520m project for computer aining to 19,200 women

The government on Tuesday launched a Tk 520 million project for providing basic computer training to women, aiming to help increase their employment opportunities in information technology (IT) sector.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki formally inaugurated the computer training project in 64 districts through video conference at the Dhaka Zila Mohila Sangstha office in the city.

Under the project, around 19,200 women will get basic computer training.

The Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha will implement the project in five years. The project expenditures will be met from the government fund.

The state minister said, to achieve the Vision 2021, women also have to be skilled in information technology along with men.

Chairman of the Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha Momtaz Begum chaired the programme while Secretary to the ministry Tariq-ul-Islam, among others, was present at the launching ceremony.
