Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed has stressed the need for prepping up the physically-challenged people for the country's services sectors.

The minister said this while addressing a seminar as the chief guest organised by Palli Karma-Shahayak Foundation (PKSF) as part of its weeklong celebration of its 25th founding anniversary titled 'Inclusive Development: Mainstreaming the Challenged People' in the city on Thursday, reports UNB.

"The number of people with disabilities in the country is not insignificant... this vast population should be utilised. These physically-challenged people have an ample scope for making their contributions to various fields, particularly the services sector," the minister said.

The commerce minister said if the physically-challenged people could be established in society, they would no longer remain a burden for their families.

He noted that the government has already set employment quotas for the physically-challenged people in various sectors, and will continue to do whatever is needed for their welfare.

PKSF general body member Munshi Faiz Ahmed presided over the seminar.
