Tourism business yet to gain momentum in greater Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 03: Though tourist spots and amusement parks in greater Chattogram reopened last week of August after long five months, tourism business has yet to gain momentum due to poor presence of tourists.

The beach in Cox's Bazar reopened on August 24 after five months. Some tourists went to visit Cox's Bazar, but the number of tourists is still lower than any time before the corona outbreak.

Some hotel owners in Cox's Bazar said maximum hotel rooms still remain vacant as the presence of tourists is still poor. As a result, tourism business is yet to get momentum, they added.

As tourist spots in Cox's Bazar remained closed for last five months to stem the spread of coronavirus, hotels and motels there also remained shut during the period.

Shah Alam Chowdhury, owner of a hotel said, "Many people who depend on tourism business were suffering a lot during corona outbreak.
