AGARTALA, Nov 17: Creating tourist circuit between Indian North-East, Bangladesh and Myanmar emphasised to help in popularising historical places.

Tripura Tourism Minister Ratan Bhaumick made the observation while inaugurating a four-day tourism road show 'Maitri Tourism' here on Sunday, according to economictimes.indiatimes.com.

"There is vast potential for sub-regional cooperation between India's North-East, Bangladesh and Myanmar. It is time that we can think of a tourist circuit encompassing the three countries and popularise the historical places in the areas of sub-regional cooperation, so that a better relation among the people of the region could be developed," he said.

"Now our relation with neighbouring Bangladesh is very cordial. With the given situation, we need to boost tourism between our north eastern region and Bangladesh. The people of the two countries have lingual and cultural affinity," he said.

The tourism road show has organised jointly by Tripura Tourism Development Corporation, Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development (BFTD) and Bangladesh Inbound Tour Operators Association.

Speaking on the occasion, President of BFTD Hakim Ali said, "We want to make a network of tourist operators in the region to create better atmosphere for tourism between the two countries and also want to improve people to people relation between the two countries".

Tourism Secretary Ashutosh Jindal said Tripura government would appreciate the tour operators if they could make regular package tours between Bangladesh and the state.
