Two vessels with 64,000 tonnes of diesel arrive at Ctg port

CHATTOGRAM, May 11: Two oil tankers carrying a total of 64,000 tonnes of diesel from Malaysia and Singapore arrived at the outer anchorage of Chattogram port on Monday as part of ongoing efforts to ensure stable fuel supply in the country.
Sources said the Denmark-flagged vessel Torm Singapore reached the anchorage around 4:00am with 34,000 tonnes of diesel from Malaysia.
Later in the morning, the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker Sea Raptor arrived at about 11:00am, carrying an additional 40,000 tonnes of diesel shipped from Singapore.
With Bangladesh's estimated daily diesel demand standing at around 12,500 tonnes, the newly arrived consignments would be sufficient to meet national requirements for more than five days.
Officials concerned said preparations are underway to unload the cargoes through lighterage operations. "The two vessels arrived this morning. Arrangements are now being made to discharge the fuel through lighter vessels," an official said.
The latest arrivals come just days after several other fuel shipments reached the port.
