Two women jailed for SME loan default

SYLHET, Aug 17: A court in Sylhet Monday awarded one and half year's jail for a woman entrepreneur and six months jail for the other in separate cases of SME loan default.

Joint Metropolitan Judge of Sylhet Md. Saifuzzaman passed the orders against the two absconding women. He also fined them triple of their default loan amounts.The cases in brief is that woman entrepreneur Zakia Sultana took Tk 0.4 million (Tk 4 lakh) loan and Rubi Talukder took Tk 0.2 million in loan under SME programme from the Pubali Bank's Stadium branch, Sylhet two years ago.
