Unilever Bangladesh extends support to CRP, DRRA

Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL) has extended financial support to the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), and the Disabled Rehabilitation & Research Association (DRRA) to strengthen rehabilitation capacity and promote inclusive livelihoods, reinforcing its commitment to health and inclusion.

Through CRP, Unilever Bangladesh Limited is supporting the Bangladesh Health Professions Institute (BHPI), the country's leading institute for training rehabilitation professionals. The initiative covers academic and residential fees for financially vulnerable students, strengthening Bangladesh's pipeline of certified therapists, says a press release.

At a time of acute shortage of specialised professionals, this support contributes to expanding access to essential rehabilitation services, particularly for marginalised communities, and advances SDG 3, Good Health and Well Being, SDG 4, Quality Education, and SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities.

In parallel, Unilever Bangladesh Limited is supporting a six-month economic empowerment programme implemented by Disabled Rehabilitation & Research Association (DRRA), in Dhaka's Vatara slum, where many climate displaced families face poverty and limited livelihood opportunities.

The programme enables income generation through a mobile food court operated by a youth with a disability and caregiver, alongside training in hygiene, food safety and financial management. It also supports mothers with disabilities in managing an online shop titled Bangla Ma, strengthening digital inclusion and sustainable home-based income.
