CHITTAGONG, February 16: India's High Commissioner Pankaj Saran today said the existing good relation between India and Bangladesh will further strengthen in all spheres including trade and business.
He said this during a meeting with president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mahbubul Alam at Chittagong Club this morning.
Vice president of the CCCI Syed Jamal Ahmed, director Md Didarul Alam MP and Mahfuzul Hoque Shah were present at that time.
Saran said he thinks Chittagong plays a very important role in the economy of Bangladesh as it is located at a very strategic place in terms of trade and business, industry and geographical location.
He spoke highly of the port city and wanted to learn about the existing trade and business of Chittagong with the north-eastern states of India. Mr. Saran was apprised of the products of Chittagong, waiting time in the Bangladesh-India land borders and export and import through the land borders.
CCCI president Mahbubul Alam expressed gratitude to India as he remembered the all-out support and cooperation of India during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.
