The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has been awarded the 'Certificate of Merit' by the World Customs Organisation (WCO) marking the International Customs Day.
FBCCI President Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) received the award from Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal at a ceremony organised by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city on Saturday.
As a global practice, the NBR recognises its associate organisations every year.
The FBCCI received this prestigious certificate signed by WCO secretary general Kunio Mikuriya for the second time for rendering outstanding service to the international customs community.
FBCCI is working to create an enabling environment for the private sector to grow.
It maintains liaison with the government for adopting appropriate policies and strategies related to industrialisation, domestic and international trade, management of financial institutions and utilities services.
