State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said Sunday, "We have come to power for brightening the image, not for bad name".
"Field level trained officers can bring the land management system into a modern and automatic one," he said while inaugurating a week-long training course for AC Land (assistant commissioners of land) at Kantaban in the city as the chief guest, reports BSS.
Land Management Training Centre organised the training course with its director Shahed Sabur in the chair. A total of 32 assistant commissioners (land) took part in the training course.
The training course was also addressed, among others, by secretary of Land Ministry Mohammad Shafiul Alam and course coordinator Saiful Islam.
The state minister said, "Everybody has to quit old thinking while discharging official duty and keep in mind the matter of modernisation."
He said field level officials are responsible for providing better service to enhance government's image.
"Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Sonar Bangla means a corruption-free, poverty-free, peaceful, prosperous and developed Bangladesh," Mr Saifuzzaman said.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared zero tolerance against corruption and terrorism for the development of the nation.
The state minister asked assistant commissioners of land to ensure transparency and accountability in their offices for brightening the image of the ministry.
