World Metrology Day today---

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) will observe World Metrology Day today, joining countries around the globe in highlighting the importance of accurate measurement in modern society.

The day aims to raise public awareness about the critical role of precise measurement in policy formulation, governance, trade and everyday life.

This year's global theme, "Metrology: Building trust in policy making," underscores how reliable measurements contribute to effective governance, fair trade, industrial development, public health, environmental protection, and consumer rights, says a press statement.

As the country's apex standards body, BSTI plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of weights and measures, implementing the metric system, promoting the International System of Units (SI), and enforcing legal metrology regulations nationwide.

To mark the day, BSTI has undertaken a series of nationwide programmes, including seminars, awareness campaigns, and promotional activities through its headquarters and regional and district offices.

Special discussion programmes will be aired on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar, alongside mobile SMS campaigns.
