A team of three students of St Joseph higher secondary school has been selected by the Conrad Foundation to participate in Conrad Innovation summit that will be held at space research and space shuttle launching centre of NASA-"Kennedy Space Center'' April 9 to 11.
This was revealed at a press conference organised by Akij Food and Beverage Ltd to publicise a rare innovation by three students of St Joseph higher secondary school in the city recently, according to a statement.
Nancy Conrad founded the "Conrad Foundation'' in commemorating the memories of former US astronaut. Pete Conrad was among the first three astronauts who walked in the moon.
This Conrad Foundation arranges the prominent and prestigious competition Conrad Innovation Summit every year. NASA, Lockheed Martin, Space Ex and more prominent organisations are its associates.
From Bangladesh the three students of St Joseph higher secondary school, student of class X, Titan section, Sadeed Araf Reza, Shakib Shahriar Arnob, and LabibTazwar Rahman have achieved positions among the first ten positions in the competition at Aerospace and Aviation Field. 174 countries participated in the competition, the statement said.
These three young scientists worked on how aeroplane can be fuel efficient and environmental friendly. Main theme of the innovation is that - static charge is created by colliding air with outer part of the aeroplane while flying in the sky. Static charge is returned to the aerospace by a device named StaticDischarger, through which aeroplane becomes neutral. Main purpose of the project of the genius scientists is to convert the charges into electricity and use this electricity in different electrification work inside the aeroplane. These genius scientists have named the device 'Staticos' , the statement added.
Principal of St Joseph, Brother Robi Purification, DGM, Brand Marketing of Akij food and Beverage Ltd, Shafiqul Islam Tushar, assistant professor of chemistry, Md Shahnawaz Ali, assistant professor of physics, and Sudeb Chandra Paul were present at the press conference.
